A Brief History

Modovar were formed in 2010 as the songwriting union between Christopher Beecham (lyrics) and Glen Wisbey (music).
The band’s name Modovar is derived from Arabic and ‘of uncertain origin’ and is in part a tribute to the Spanish film director Pedro Almodovar, whose prevalent themes of desire, passion, relationships and identify align lyrically with the universal themes contained within the band’s songwriting. Never wanting to align with any particular genre or scene, Modovar’s musical inspiration comes from many sources;  from synth pioneers, torch song singers, film noir soundtracks and more than a nod to the dancefloor, Modovar’s sound is both uniquely their own and immediately accessible to the listener.
